CLIVE JENKINS .

Clive Jenkins, LRPS, specialises in hand printed black and white images which look at the familiar in a different light.

Born and bred on the Gower Peninsula, it comes as no surprise that the ancient, wild and rugged seascapes and landscapes, castles and churches of the area have provided inspiration for his work. His portfolio also features captivating scenes from regular trips over the years to the West coast of France, where the coastline and majesty of the Pyrenees have proved irresistible.

Photography for Clive is from an altogether different era. Shooting on a large or medium format film camera, Clive develops his negatives and handprints to produce archival silver gelatin fibre prints. Every darkroom print is unique. In this world of instant images, this method results in a unique piece of art that forever holds a piece of the artists heart and soul. It is a labour of love, time and expertise, a process that results in the magic and wonder that comes from capturing a single moment in time on a piece of photographic emulsion.

Technology has its place, Clive will also scan and digitally print to produce archival giclee prints. And whilst his first love is photographic film, Clive does occasionally shoot digitally.

Clive was privileged to have studied under and been influenced by such great landscape photographers as John Blakemore and the late Fay Godwin. He exhibits in Oyster Gallery, Rhossili Gallery, Dylan Thomas' Boathouse and Gallery Pili Tafernaberry Bidart France.
