John Banfield is an artist and printmaker, based in Swansea, he studied at Swansea College of Art, and qualified as a biological and medical artist, following this, he practiced as a medical artist in a prestigious London teaching hospital for a number of years, and taught continous tone techniques, at the London School of Printing.

On his return to Wales, 50 years later he resumed his old passion of printmaking, his prints are predominantly of natural subjects, with hints of symbolism and imagination, he has a workshop in Swansea, where he produces his work.
